While
spray foam is seemingly taking over the industry, there are more types of insulation out there that are still available to you. It does seem like spray foam is the best insulation option if you are looking for the highest quality and efficiency, there are still other options that provide almost as good of results, for cheaper costs. Also each different type comes with other benefits or drawbacks, depending on the type. So it really comes down to what exactly you are looking for. Insulation can work in a variety of ways, so depending on the focus you have for your job, we can offer the type of insulation that would work best for your specific case.
The first main question is the type of building you are needing insulated, and what the main objective of the insulation is. Is it specifically thermal insulation, to address energy costs and conservation, and improve the comfortability of the environment? Or are you perhaps looking for acoustic insulation, to provide better privacy throughout the home or work place?
We have options that will combine these as well if that is what you need. Cellulose insulation does a good job combining both of these attributes, while acoustic foam panels would be the best option to specifically address sound insulation. This is not the typical insulation we provide since most requests are to insulate a home or office for thermal insulation, but it is something that we offer if needed.
Thermal insulation is best addressed with spray foam insulation, as well as a few other options. Fiberglass insulation does a good job insulating a home, and can be used anywhere in the home. It is probably the insulation we find most often in a home when we work on them, as it is a cheaper alternative and was previously the option that most people went with. It is effective enough, and obviously better than nothing, but when it comes to really needing strong insulation, it is often replaced with spray foam.
Other options include rigid foam insulation, which is a board-like material so it is very effective in preventing heat escape. It is used most frequently throughout buildings and especially in the foundation to ensure strong insulation. Mineral wool insulation is another option, which is made mainly of fibers of rock and can be used anywhere throughout a home. A very cheap alternative is reflective insulation, but it is not very effective since the majority of it just tries to reflect the heat, such as aluminum foil. A very affordable option but often ineffective, it usually needs to be accompanied by another form of insulation for us to be at all satisfied with the insulation we provide you.
The last frequent option used is natural insulation, which is eco-friendly so a lot of people like that. It is made of naturally occurring materials like wool or cotton, and does a pretty good job of insulating. There are even more types but we won’t bore you with every single one, but if you are interested in learning more or if you have any specific questions about any of the offerings, just give us a call or fill out the form above and we will help you with whatever you need.
